〜ABOUT FARMER〜
エチオピア・グジのハンベラ地区に位置するディムトゥ・ワテ・ステーションには、ブク・サイサやディムトゥといった村（ケベレ）の約600軒の小規模農家がチェリーを持ち込みます。
ワテ・ステーションはGujooのステーションの中でも最も高標高に位置しており、ここではG1のみが生産され、収穫は12月から2月上旬にかけて行われます。
収穫期には地域の人々がピッカーとして加わり、100〜150人が収穫作業に従事します。
木々は比較的若く10〜20年ほどで、周辺地域の木が老齢化してグレードが下がってきたことを背景に、2019年にこのステーションが設立されました。ステーションにはペナゴス製のエコパルパーが導入されており、水の使用量を抑えつつ効率的にミューシレージを除去することで、環境に配慮しながらクリーンで均一なロットの生産を可能にしています。農家によって栽培され、ステーションに持ち込まれるチェリーには、ウォリチュやクドゥメといった在来種に加え、74112や74110といった改良品種も含まれます。
Approximately 600 smallholder farmers from villages (kebeles) such as Buku Saysa and Dimtu deliver their coffee cherries to the Dimtu Wate Station, located in the Hambela district of Guji, Ethiopia.
Situated at the highest altitude among the stations in the Guji region, the Wate Station produces exclusively Grade 1 coffee, with the harvest taking place between December and early February.
During the harvest season, local residents join the workforce as pickers, with 100 to 150 people engaged in harvesting activities.
The coffee trees are relatively young—aged between 10 and 20 years—and the station was established in 2019 in response to the aging of trees in the surrounding area, which had led to a decline in quality grades. The station utilizes a Penagos Eco-Pulper, which efficiently removes mucilage while minimizing water usage, thereby enabling the production of clean, consistent lots in an environmentally conscious manner. The cherries cultivated by farmers and delivered to the station include indigenous varieties such as Wolisho and Kudume, as well as improved varieties like 74112 and 74110.
